Doug Sylvester
Chief Operating Officer
Prior to joining TVN, Doug Sylvester was President, Chief
Operating Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors
of IFILM, an online media company. At IFILM he had full profit
and loss responsibility for the company, managed its three
business lines, and oversaw all administrative functions.
Sylvester structured strategic relationships with Yahoo, Independent
Film Channel (IFC), and Tivo and was part of the senior management
team that raised over $55 million in equity financing for
the company.
Before IFILM, Sylvester was President of The Cottage Group, a private venture capital organization. He joined The Cottage Group after five years at E! Entertainment Television. Sylvester joined E! to create and manage the New Business Development and Corporate Planning departments. He was the co-founder of E! Online, the Internet business of E! Entertainment Television, and served as the company's senior executive. He developed the business plan for style., E!'s second domestic cable network, and was responsible for structuring a $75 million credit facility with Barclays Bank to finance its launch. He was also active in the negotiation and structuring of the company's international television networks.
Sylvester's entertainment and media career began at New Line Cinema where he managed all west-coast business development activities. Prior to New Line Cinema, he worked at Bankers Trust Company in New York and Hayes Microcomputer Products in Atlanta.
Sylvester has an MBA from Harvard Business School and an Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology. He serves on the Board of Directors of Genex, an Internet consulting and development firm, based in Los Angeles.
Dom Stasi
Chief Technology Officer
An industry veteran, Dom Stasi's background spans the production, distribution, and exhibition of state-of-the-art television. Development and implementation of the capabilities and technologies enabling pay-per-view (PPV) and video-on-demand (VOD) have characterized his tenure with TVN.
Stasi came to TVN from TCI's National Digital Television Center (NDTC). As Senior Vice President for Network Business Development, he worked closely with MSOs and program providers to develop the digital distribution architectures that have come to characterize the industry. Prior to joining TCI, Stasi was Director of Engineering for HBO; and Vice President/General Manager of Engineering and Network Operations for MTV Networks.
Stasi has been a frequent and invited speaker at the national conventions of SMPTE, NCTA, CTAM, SCTE, Women In Cable, and NAB. He has served on the NCTA Engineering Committee and its subcommittees since 1979, and has published numerous technical papers.
Stasi holds a BSEE from the State University of New York where he also worked as an instructor in the Engineering Department prior to joining the CATV industry.
James P. Riley
Senior Vice President, Business Development
James P. Riley heads up Business Development and Affiliate Sales. Most recently, Riley lead the Sales Division of Guthy-Renker Television (GRTV), the cable industry's leading satellite delivered direct response marketing company, which TVN acquired in 1999. Joining GRTV in 1997, Riley tripled distribution and directed transactional marketing initiatives to cable MSOs, DBS Companies and Broadcasters.
Prior to GRTV, Riley spent eight years at E! Entertainment Television, where he served as Vice President of Affiliate Relations and was later promoted to Vice President of New Technologies. As head of that division, he built up distribution among cable, direct broadcast satellite, and wireless distribution companies.
Riley also explored his creative side and developed the CTAM award-winning E! Clips affinity marketing program, which employed E! product to support E! Affiliates' PPV marketing objectives. He also served on the development team for E! Online, helping build the successful web site that delivers entertainment content to Internet users. Preceding his tenure with E! Entertainment, Riley served in various sales, business affairs and marketing roles with Rainbow Programming Networks (AMC, Bravo and SportsChannel) from 1986-1989.
A graduate of New York's Fordham University with a degree in Mass Communications and Philosophy, Riley is a member of NCTA, CCTA and CTAM and has served on the boards of numerous regional telecommunications associations.
Bev Doughty
Senior Vice President, Marketing
As Senior Vice President of Marketing, Bev Doughty oversees all marketing and communications strategies surrounding TVN Entertainment's video-on-demand (VOD), pay-per-view (PPV) and direct response products.
Doughty spent more than six years with VOD provider DIVA
Systems Corp., where she served as General Manager, Entertainment
Services. In this role, Doughty was responsible for the development
of new on demand applications including the launch of SVOD
and Music-On-Demand. Doughty also sold and implemented some
of the nation's first VOD launches.
Prior to joining DIVA, Doughty directed affiliate sales and marketing for HBO, managing the growth of a $20 million territory for HBO and Cinemax. She got her start working at Proctor & Gamble providing overall sales and merchandising support.
Doughty was recently named as one of Cable's 100 Heavy Hitters by CableFax Magazine, 2001, and has spoken at numerous industry events held by such recognized organizations as Kagan and CTAM. She has also received numerous awards throughout her career recognizing her excellence in marketing and strong leadership abilities.
Doughty holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University.
Neil Goldberg
Senior Vice President, Programming
Neil Goldberg is a 16-year veteran of the entertainment industry.
For the past 7 years he has served at a senior management
level for multi-million dollar businesses and has overseen
production and development for major film and television companies.
Currently, Goldberg is Senior Vice President of Programming
at TVN Entertainment, where he oversees the creation, development,
management and programming of over 40 linear and on-demand
networks. Goldberg is also part of the executive management
team, driving overall direction of the company including new
initiatives such as time shifting of traditional broadcast
networks and on-demand subscription services for cable networks.
Neil comes to TVN from DIVA, where he was responsible for
all entertainment programming aspects of the company. Goldberg
was also part of the executive management team. Prior to joining
DIVA in 1987, Neil was Vice President of Witt-Thomas Films
overseeing all aspects of development and production as well
as day-to-day operations of the company. Previously, he was
Director of Worldwide Acquisitions for Warner Bros. In that
capacity, Neil acquired over two hundred films for Warner
Bros. International Distribution. He also worked on various
co-productions with companies based on the Warner lot. Before
entering the studio system, Neil was Director of Business
Affairs at Trans Atlantic Entertainment, while simultaneously
serving as Production Executive. A graduate of the University
of Maryland, Neil is also a produced film and television writer.
Jonathan Blinderman
Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs
Jonathan Blinderman serves as TVN Entertainment's chief legal
counsel, overseeing all of TVN's legal needs. This includes
negotiating and documenting licensing, distribution and vendor
contracts; overseeing regulatory compliance; working on dispute
resolution; and overseeing TVN's corporate governance. He
also serves as the company's secretary.
Prior to TVN, Blinderman worked at O'Melveny & Myers,
LLP, one of Los Angeles' oldest and largest law firms, where
he was a member of the corporate and finance practice. At
O'Melveny, he focused on financing transactions and emerging
markets. Before that he was an attorney with Moskowitz, Brestoff,
Winston & Blinderman, working on litigation matters as
well as entertainment transactions.
Blinderman has assisted in the production of various films,
including I Love You, Don't Touch Me, The Gifted and
Pete's Garden. His community activities include sitting
on the Board of Directors of the William O'Douglas Outdoor
Classroom and having served on the California Controller's
Child Support Task Force.
Blinderman holds a Juris Doctor degree with honors
and a Masters degree in Economics from Duke University, and
a Bachelors degree, cum laude in Economics from the
University of Colorado, Boulder.
Brian H. Hanel
Senior Vice President, Corporate Development
Brian Hanel serves as TVN Entertainment's Senior Vice President,
Corporate Development. Prior to joining TVN, Hanel served
as Senior Vice President, Business Development for Magna Entertainment
Company, the world's largest thoroughbred horseracing company.
His duties included strategic business development incorporating
media, Internet and wireless initiatives. Hanel was also responsible
for raising capital, corporate acquisitions, and managing
Magna's location-based entertainment and retail center developments
at its premier horse racing facilities.
Before Magna, Hanel served as Senior Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer for HomeSpace, Inc., an Internet-based mortgage
and home services provider. In this capacity, Hanel managed
accounting, finance, human resources, administration and business
development. He was actively involved in selling the Company
to LendingTree, Inc.
A graduate from Pomona College with a BA in economics, Hanel
also earned his MBA from the University of California, Irvine.
